God never leaves

" And, surely I am with you always,

to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:20

These are difficult times! This has become a bit of a cliche, but think about it, There is no precedent for how to deal with all that is going on in the world right now. We are paving new ground. We've had to make adjustments in our jobs, our family life, how we see friends, our recreation, travel, school...all of it has changed. I don't know about you, but I am exhausted.

Just when I start to feel like I have some sense of control, something changes.

Whether you are surrounded by people or if you live alone, it can feel very isolating. For those of us with anxiety and/or depression we can easily succumb to the voice of doubt. We worry about job security, we worry about our children's future, we worry about our relationships, we worry about our finances, we worry about our health, we worry about aging family members, we worry about the future in general!

God want to remind us that while we may feel alone, we are not. In this verse, God tells me that He is always with me. He is with me through the Holy Spirit that lives within me. He is with me in the person of Jesus, who in His humanity understands my feelings of loneliness and despair. He is with me in His word. Countless times, throughout the Bible, I am reminded that I am loved, that I don't need to worry, that I don't need to be afraid, and that God will protect and provide. No matter what I am feeling, or what my situation is, God cares about me and He cares for me. He wants to be intimately involved in the details of my life, and He wants to show up in bold and mighty ways.

Father God, help me to trust that You are with me, and that You will never leave me. When those voices of self-doubt begin, I pray that your Word would silence my heart. Help me to reflect on all the times you have carried me through a difficult or scary situation. Help me to use those times as evidence that you are with me and that you will continue to walk through difficult times with me. Thank you for loving me and your promise to never leave!
